babY J 3 month session - Chicago Area Children Photographer

Our little nephew is growing so fast.  Babies are so much fun and so much work.  Mom is doing a great job figuring it all out.  I enjoyed spending the day with family.  :)

Sweet Boy - Chicago Area Children Photographer

This was such a great session.  M is a sweet boy, he even took a nap at the end. 

I love this image so much.  It may be my Christmas card ;)

Mommy is a teacher and she requested this specific shot.  I can't wait for her to see what I came up with on my variation to this shot.  I really enjoy collaborating with clients. 

Big sister did a great job too.

I am thankful for little sleepy clients.  :)

Hugs - Chicago Area Family Photographer

I was so happy when a college roommate asked me to photograph her children.  It's been so long since we've had an opportunity to sit down and catch up.  Her children are so precious, she has a lovely home and a good husband by her side - it was all beautiful to witness.

The session was fast and fun. I even received an unprompted hug by her sweet little guy before I left.  Now if that isn't a measure of success, I don't know what is.

 

Toddler Fun - Chicago Area Family Photojournalist

Announcement: Starting next week look for my blog on Tuesdays.

"This is such a fun age."  When my kids were toddlers, I never understood why people would say that.  It's a run around after your mobile kid and make sure they don't get into anything dangerous stage.  This stage is tons of work for parents. 

I sure did have fun with E.  She was very playful and shared lots of big laughs with me. 
Her mama is doing a fantastic job keeping up with her.

This is such a fun age! :D

 

grand KIDS - chicago area family photojournalist

This has been my most challenging session thus far.  It was great! I do love a challenge. 

That's 9 kiddos ages 3-13.  These kids were so much fun.  Each one with a very different personality. 
The youngest, C, HATES to take pictures.  Good thing I wasn't told this until the day of the shoot,  I probably would have had nightmares.

   
These grandparent sessions are really special.  I can feel how excited they are to have images with their grand kids.  Not to mention they thanked me a million times.  Such a sweet couple. 

   

(above image) By the middle of our shoot C wasn't covering his face any more, he just wasn't looking at the camera. Progress.

C is looking at the camera and there is almost a smile! WHOOT! WHOOT!
In all honesty he did smile in the last image I took.  I encouraged mom to take a picture with her kids and it was the last images I shot.  I will save that one for her.

1st Birthday - Chicago Area Photojournalist

When your baby turns one, it is definitely a big milestone.  For me, the first year was by far the most challenging.  When each of my babies turned one I remember feeling like this, "YAHOO! We made it!" 

You never get to have: your baby is turning one again.  It is so important to capture this moment in time.

MOMS Club - Chicago Area Family Photojournalist

Last week, I was very excited and nervous to be asked to give a presentation to the MOMS Club of Grayslake. 

I haven't given a presentation in years.  At one point in my life (seems like a different lifetime) I went around the country giving presentations.  I was actually good at. 

It felt great to prepare a presentation, sure I was interrupted at least 10 times, but it still felt great.  I am so grateful for the opportunity.
