Our goddaughter had a wonderful 1st birthday bash.  She is the sweetest little girl and we are lucky to be there to watch her grow.  It's an honor to capture these special, sweet and funny moments.

It was big brothers 3rd birthday too.

Coincidence - Grayslake Family Photographer

Coincidence noun - a remarkable concurrence of events or circumstances without apparent causal connection.

As I may have stated before I don't believe in coincidence.  How about this for a coincidence... I've just parked in the Grant Park North garage underground parking, The streets are packed with tourists, business folks and the like, on any given day 3 million people are trekking the streets of Chicago.  I take out my phone to get my google map out and figure out which direction I should start walking.  My face is glued to my phone drowning out the buzz of my surroundings.  A beautiful young mother with a little guy strapped to her chest says; "HEY, I know you." We hug even before it all registers.  A friendly face, a bright familiar smile among the busy fast paced Chicago streets.  What are the chances?

A few weeks after this chance encounter.  We had this gorgeous family session...

Love Is - Grayslake Family Photographer

How about this thought for something a little different:

"Love is giving something you don't have to someone that doesn't exist."

I have never thought of love like this and instead of rejecting this I was curious as to what was meant by it.   Our projections of love and anything else can make things so complicated.

The speaker who used this quote went on to say, "we can not be the end of seeking for another person and they can't be the end of our seeking. Sometimes implicit in the love is that you are the end of my seeking."  We're not talking about seeking another partner.  We are talking about seeking something else inside of ourselves that we tend to stop looking for and mistakenly believe our partner has filled that void.  The truth is our partners have their own seeking too.  They aren't just a main character in our story they have their own story to play out.  Understanding that, giving each other space to seek within ourselves that maybe what love is really.

I love this family.  Mom is one of my dear friends.  She has added so much joy and laughter to my life.  We can always count on each other for a hand, a listening ear, and those encouraging words.  I can't say enough wonderful things about her.

When we finally booked a day for this family session I was super excited.  

The weather was interesting, the night of our shoot Grayslake experienced a tornado.  Making this session unforgettable for so many reasons.
