S family - Chicago Area Maternity Photographer

What an absolute privilege and honor it is to collaborate with my dear friends on these images.  A lifetime ago (well it seems like a lifetime ago) I lived in the charming state of TN.  I worked with this beautiful couple in an extraordinary company in Nashville.  (Why it was an extraordinary company is another story for another time. I will just say I have been eternally blessed from my experiences and the people that touched my life while working there.)   These two continue to bless my life.

I have driven by the spot above numerous times thinking what a perfect spot for a session.  It was just waiting for the perfect family.

To be around this couple's love for each other is a spiritual experience.

She is even more beautiful than the last time I saw her, 6 years ago.

These two young handsome men threw me off a little.  When they spoke to me they called me, "Ma'am".  Southern gentlemen, for sure.

C & M, I am very grateful that you asked me to do this.  It was wonderful to see you again.  I will see you soon. :)

Baby R is half a year old now and growing so fast.  He is a thinker, you can tell that he is just processing everything around him.  It was fascinating to see him grow in this way.

Another image to add to our growing storyboard.  I can't wait to put all the images together at the end of his first year.

Mommy says she loves that thing Baby R does with his little tongue.

I love this one and it was very unexpected.  So I tell mommy to give him a kiss and almost on queue he puckers up for a kiss.  When I was editing and I saw this image... what joy!!! Simply perfect!!!!

Feeling Different This Mother's Day - Chicago Area Family Photographer

This Mother's Day I felt very different.  It is a continuation of what I've been feeling this whole year.  My year of awakening.

Last year, I hosted and spent all day in the kitchen.  I did so very happily and willingly even though I was exhausted by the end of the day.  This year, I decided that I wasn't going to do that to myself.  This year I was going to enjoy a stress free day.  It was wonderful.

Mother's Day 2012
Don't mind the bags under my eyes. I was up all night cleaning and cooking.  LOL!

J with his new haircut.  I was very surprised when he got home.  Daddy was in the Army and has always had a thing about clean hair cuts.  Hair can't be too long or untidy.  As I am making changes within maybe daddy is making changes too.

Another reason why this Mother's Day is different is because I have decided that I no longer need to live my life only for my children and husband.  I want to live a fulfilled life for myself.  I am working hard to be successful and follow my dreams.  To show them that I have worked hard and achieved success; is to show them a higher level of my love.

Little Man Turns 5 - Chicago Area Family Photographer

I had so much fun with this handsome boy this weekend.
Mama, you did an awesome job with his cool threads.
The location was perfect and this little guy was perfect too.

Throwing rocks because that's what boys do.

Turning 5 is one of those big milestones.  M will be off to Kinder this fall.  I am honored to capture this moment in time for his loving family.  I thoroughly enjoyed his wonderful energy.
