Roots - Chicago Area Photojournalist

"Good parents give their children roots and wings."

Roots give a tree stability by going deep and holding it to the ground. Roots also provide nourishment through the water and minerals that they draw in. Nourishment of the mind, body, and soul.

The image above is also branches just creatively edited.

Currently I am working on nourishing and stabilizing three little roots.

Happy 1st Birthday - Chicago Area Family Photojournalist

Baby E is turning 1! Daddy works a lot so we took the opportunity for some family pics too.

Thank you to Family M for allowing me to capture her this first year. It's been so much fun watching her grow.

May God continue to bless Baby E!

Mental note... she doesn't like strawberry frosting... LOL!

1 yr feet, will never be the same again.

Happy Birthday E-ita!

Homemade Valentines - Chicago Area Photojournalist

This year we made our Valentine cards. It was a lot of fun! I am so glad we started pretty early on these.

The cards are perfect because of their imperfections; pink ink fingerprints from the stamp pad, crooked gluing, and 15 pieces of tape so the sucker stays on. I love my little monsters!

Happy Valentine's Day!

The kids decorated the back with stamps and wrote their names. Here is J's attempt at his name:

Okay, you guys can have a sucker now. :)

The Sign - Chicago Area Photojournalist

I believe there are signs all around us. These signs point us in the right direction and send us through detours when we are going the wrong way.

At times I wonder what I am doing with photography. I need a new camera, equipment, props etc. and all this is pretty pricey. I make mistakes; not the right f/stop, composure was off, lighting was wrong, over edited the image, and probably the worse... didn't get the shot at all.

Mostly this is my desperate attempt not to lose myself, in what can be, the quicksand of stay at home momdom. That's what keeps me blogging every week. Then something like this happens...

R's school is having their annual fundraiser. They asked parents if there was anything they could donate to the silent auction and raffle. I knew right away what I wanted to donate. I went out one day and took pictures of the attached church the school is run by. I printed 3 large images and framed them, including the one below. When I went to give my donation they were thrilled because this year is the 50th anniversary of the church. I had no idea.

Coincidence... NO.
Sign... YES.
