Spring Maternity Session - Grayslake Photographer

I had the honor of photographing these lovely parents to be.  Can you believe this rock star woman is just days away from giving birth?  She is still hitting the gym on a regular basis.
It was great working with both of them.

Thank you for asking me to capture this special time in your life.
Special thank you to my friend Xochy for the awesome referral.

My Outpatient Procedure - Grayslake Photographer and Writer

A month ago I had shock wave therapy for a kidney stone.  I wasn't having any pain but the doctor advised me that this kidney stone needed to be removed before it did cause complications.  One of my thoughts was that I finally get to practise peace and mindfulness in a stressful situation.  I hoped that I wouldn't forget all the work I have done and start to panic instead.
I focused on the impermanence of life.  All things, good and bad come and go.  Whatever I was going to feel during or after the procedure would pass, eventually.  Eventually, the whole thing would be just a memory.
Things couldn't have gone any better than they did.  I was put under anesthesia and I don't remember a thing.  I took pain meds the first night and didn't need them after that.  A week later I was pretty much back to the routine.
The only effect that lingered a little longer was the anesthesia and it caused a little stiffness.

And that is it...

It's kind of strange that I don't have more to report about it.  But I really don't...

I can only conclude that the work I've done watching my thoughts and finding an inner peace really did help me through what could have been a very complicated, stressful situation.

"Worrying does not take away tomorrow's troubles, it takes away today's peace."

"Peace.  It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work.  It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart. "

"Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal."  MLK
